No News Is Good News

“Do you understand that the world does not revolve around you and your "do whatever it takes, ruin as many people's lives, so long as you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way"?

So darling Robots, do we all know at this point NOT to believe everything that we read? I’ve been misquoted in countless interviews, and sometimes completely edited out of TV shows for not being a team player. The media does not love nerds.

Case in point. I had a lovely lunch with an interviewer from The Oregonian. She was nice, young, from some Mid West state and eager to learn about the body art world. During this candid interview that was supposed to be about future legislation, she reported on personal, what I requested to be off-the-record information, that portrayed me as some self-destructive moron, burning myself with forks. I’m not saying what was printed was not true, it’s just 20 years out of date.

Does anyone want negative press during a recession? The Robot employees were in a tizzy, concerned about the repercussions of this article. Myself, having been mis-represented a bazillion times in the past in the world of media, laughed it off. I could have lied, bragged, and sold myself like a used car salesman, but that has never been my style. I’m a humble nerd, who would rather have you appreciate Robot for being down to earth and human (robot?).
