Lapis is actually a rock; not a mineral. It is because it is made up of other minerals such as lazurite, hauynite, sodalite, noselite, calcite and pyrite. First mined in the mountains of Afghanistan, lapis migrated across the world through trade. The Egyptians loved it and used it in religious ceremonies and personal decoration such as jewelry and cosmetics. Many inscriptions from “The Book of the Dead” were carved into lapis tablets. In the new age world, lapis is great for mental and psychic growth and can be used to help throat issues. (cough cough)
Please note; we have a new stone vendor with a slightly different style of lapis, we just have to photograph it!
Due to the nature of nature, color patterns and texture may vary from photo.
